Our Career Guidance Service

We have a very active career guidance service, working hard with our students from the beginning of First Year to the end of Leaving Cert. and even beyond.

We aim to support our students from day one in Presentation College, easing the transition between primary and secondary school. We get to know all our students personally, helping with the routine tasks of school life, such as subject choice, study skills, exam technique and transition from Junior to Senior Cycle. We also provide personal counselling – a confidential service to assist students with personal and social problems should they arise. When it comes to leaving Currylea, we aim for our students to enter the world of Third Level education, or work, well prepared. To that end, we have established good relationships with colleges and companies.

Local employers are invited into the school to conduct mock interviews with Leaving Cert. students, and representatives from Third Level Colleges visit the school annually to speak to senior students about programmes and courses offered in Ireland and the U.K. Assistance is given with researching careers, visits to open days are arranged and help and support is on offer with C.A.O. applications and preparation for interviews.
